SYNOPSIS

Young Eleni, a grim figure, strives to survive at the height of war, in July 1974, while expecting her baby, the seed of her recent marriage to George.
While desperately trying to save herself and her parents from the frenzied bombings, walking through and climbing up the eerie pitch-black burning villages, she gives birth to her daughter, Maria.
After the ceasefire, George is still gone and consigned to the list of missing people.
Although her life is fraught with difficulties, Eleni hangs tough, stubbornly persevering to raise her daughter the best she can. She’s the most beautiful thing she has left to draw verve and strength from.
Maria is a bright young woman of unimpeachable integrity and when she turns eighteen she earns on her own merits a scholarship to study in Germany. There, she meets Harry, a German young man her age. They happen to have a lot in common, and no just interests. When she later crosses paths with Philip, Pandora’s box opens up and they are in for surprises and unexpected turnovers. Some people make it, while others surrender to the whims of fate.
